Black Seed An Ancient Time Herb

By rickie wright at 2010-12-23 00:04:29
Black seed is a cold pressed vegetable oil derived from the seeds of the bushy, flowering plant Nigella sativa. The plant is known by a wide range of pseudonyms including fennel flower, nutmeg flower, Roman coriander, onion seed, and in the USA it is known as charnushka, which is derived from Russian.

An ancient Arab proverb calls it the "medicine for every disease except death". And in the pyramid tombs in Egypt, archaeologists discovered black cumin seeds. Only things needed in the afterlife would be buried with the kings. Black Seed Oil comes from the flowering plant, Nigella Sativa, found in southwest Asia. This plant grows about twelve inches tall, has thread like leaves with delicate, pale, blue and white flowers. The large fruit of this plant contains follicles, each containing numerous seeds. These seeds are pressed into oil.

Black Seed Oil takes you from the shallow Alpha Wave sleep into the deeper more replenishing Delta Wave sleep that allows you to wake refreshed and take on what the day has to offer with real joy. Black Seed Oil is not addictive and with absolutely no known side effects apart from the joy of waking refreshed. By taking just one teaspoonful (5ml) at night then the process of obtaining a blissful state of sleep can start to build.

Black seeds are a very old spice, may be, the oldest one in the world. Their earliest recorded use as a spice is traced thousands of years back. According to an Assyrian legend, the gods drank sesame-based wine before they created the earth!

Tea can be made with the seeds of black cumin. To do this, grind the seeds into a very fine powder and add to a cup of boiled water, mix, and let it steep. The ground black cumin seeds can be used in salads and it works well when it is mixed with lemon, cilantro, and thin.

In herbal medicine, the black cumin extract benefits are said to be anti-hypertensive (reduces blood pressure), carminative, (combats flatulence, prevents bloating and gassiness), and anti-parasitic. Because of that, it is sometimes including in colon cleansers. It is interesting to note that the seeds are eaten by elephants to aid digestion. But there are more potential benefits. The ground up seeds can also be used in stir fries, casseroles, and breads. This is so versatile; you can add some to your favorite tea or coffee and still get the benefits.

The primary ingredient in black cumin is crystalline nigellone, other ingredients found in the herb and which are beneficial health wise include amino acids, fatty acids, crude fiber, and minerals including potassium, sodium, iron and calcium. It is most commonly sold in capsule form with around 50 to 75mg been taken as a supplement. Seed oil is also a popular form and available as a nutritional supplement, the seeds are cold pressed to extract the oil and are usually used to treat conditions of the skin such as dry skin, eczema and psoriasis.

Black sesame seeds are available at herbal shops, health shops, Asian markets, and some food stores that sell exotic spices.Studies have shown that black current seed oil contains antioxidants that protect the body from free radicals. Additionally black current seed oil is a tremendous source of essential fatty acids. Adding this natural remedy to your daily routine is an excellent way to maintain great health.

They are also available in other forms like powder, pills or capsules. As their taste is slightly sweet and nutty, I suggest to eat them in their original form. Soak 2-3 spoonfuls of seeds in plenty of water, take away whatever remains on the surface (empty hulls etc). Throw the water away and cook the seeds for five minutes in a cup of water. Then let them settle and eat them, if possible early morning before breakfast.
