Amla-Most Effective Ayurvedic Medicine

Amla also know as amalaki, dhatriphala and in Sanskrit and Emblica officinalis scientifically, is the most widely used herb in the ayurvedic system of medicine. it maintains balance amongst three Doshas of wind, bile and phelgm (Vayu, Pitta and Cough).Amla is referred to as a person of the wonder herbs in ayurveda mainly because it has several indications. World-renowned ayurvedic herbal supplement Chyavanprash contains Amla more than 50% of all its bulk. Amla fruit is rich in Vitamin C and is used very commonly in supplementing ascorbic acid.

Amla, Emblica officinalis is a much revered fruit in Ayurveda for its anti-diabetic, antiseptic and anti-pyretic properties. It is an effective cerebral, heart and gastrointestinal tonic. Amla coincidently has anabolic effect and is helpful in increasing the body weight by way of its role in absorption of protein and balancing nitrogen in the body. This highly nutritious fruit is used as the main ingredient in the ayurvedic tonic chyavanprash. There are two type of Amla - one is wild and the other is cultivated. These are called vanya and gramya respectively.

Amla fruit is helpful in maintaining the proper secretion of gastric juices especially the hydrochloric acid (HCl) that is being secreted in the stomach. This hydrochloric acid is helpful in proper digestion of food but if it is secreted in larger amount it causes the very widely known disorder, acidity. Amla is very helpful for diabetes patients as it is rich in vitamin c content. It helps in reducing the blood glucose levels as well as protects the eyes from diabetes complications.
